Licence Terms
1. The software is GPL
GetReviewX is free software, licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or (at your option) any later version — the same licence as WordPress itself. In the event of any conflict between the GPL and anything on this page, the GPL wins for the PHP, JavaScript, CSS and image files that make up the plugin.
That means, concretely:
- You receive complete source code. Nothing is obfuscated or compiled shut.
- You may run the plugin on any number of sites, study it, modify it, and redistribute it, subject to the GPL’s own conditions.
- The plugin does not check a licence key in order to function. Every feature works whether or not a key is entered. There is no kill switch and no time bomb.
So what am I paying for? A commercial relationship with us: automatic updates delivered to your site, and support. That is a service, and it is what the sections below govern. If you would rather not buy a licence, you may still use the software — you would simply update it by hand and go without support.
2. What a paid licence buys
For the duration of your licence term, and for the number of sites your plan allows:
- Automatic updates. Your site’s WordPress update screen will offer new GetReviewX releases and install them in place, including security releases.
- Update downloads. Our update service will serve the release archive to a site whose licence key is valid and activated. Without a valid activated key, our service still tells your site that a newer version exists, but will not serve the download.
- Support as described in section 5.
A licence is granted to one person or one legal entity. It is not transferable to another entity except with our written agreement, which we will not unreasonably withhold (a business sale, for example).
3. Site activations
Each plan allows a set number of concurrent site activations: one for Single Site, five for Agency 5, and no numeric limit for Unlimited. An “activation” is one WordPress installation, identified by its site URL, that has your key entered.
- You may deactivate a site and activate a different one at any time, from the plugin’s settings screen. There is no cooling-off period between moves.
- A staging, development or local copy of a site you have already activated does not consume an extra activation, provided it is not publicly serving the business it belongs to. In practice, run staging without a key entered.
- A multisite network counts as one activation when GetReviewX is network-activated and all sub-sites belong to you or a single client.
- The Unlimited plan is for sites you own or that you build and maintain for clients. It is not a redistribution or resale licence for our update service — you may not resell your key, bundle it into a product, or hand it to third parties to use as their own.
If we detect a key being used well beyond its plan — for example, a Single Site key active on dozens of unrelated domains — we will contact you first and give you a reasonable chance to upgrade before taking any other step.
4. Term, renewal and lapse
Licences are sold for a term of one year from purchase, and renew automatically at the then current renewal price unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from the receipt or customer portal our payment provider emails you, or by asking us.
When a licence lapses, nothing stops working. The plugin keeps running, keeps syncing and keeps rendering, because the GPL guarantees that. What you lose is access to automatic updates and support until you renew. Because updates include security fixes, running an unmaintained copy indefinitely is a risk you accept.
5. Support scope
Support is delivered by email, in English, on business days, with a target first response of one business day and a genuine effort at two. Priority-queue plans are answered first, not faster than physics.
Support covers: installing and configuring the plugin, connecting Google, diagnosing bugs in GetReviewX, and helping you get a placement rendering.
Support does not cover: writing custom code for you, theme or page-builder development, fixing conflicts caused by other plugins or nulled software, hosting and server administration, WordPress core problems unrelated to us, or Google account and Business Profile problems that must be raised with Google.
We may ask you to reproduce an issue with other plugins disabled and a default theme active. If a problem cannot be reproduced outside your specific customisation, we will tell you so plainly rather than bill you for a fishing expedition.
6. Refunds
If GetReviewX does not do what this website says it does, we will refund you. Request a refund within 14 days of your original purchase, from [email protected], and tell us what went wrong. We would like the chance to fix it first, but a refund is not conditional on letting us try.
- Refunds apply to first purchases, not to renewals you forgot to cancel — though if a renewal genuinely surprised you, write to us and we will sort it out.
- We do not refund for reasons that were disclosed before purchase: that Google caps how long review content may be cached, or that displaying your own reviews does not produce star ratings in Google search results.
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method through our payment provider and typically appear within 5–10 business days.
- A refund ends the licence: activations are released and update access stops. Under the GPL you keep the copy of the code you already have.
Statutory rights that apply where you live are unaffected by anything in this section.
7. Payment and taxes
Checkout is operated by Dodo Payments, acting as merchant of record. Your contract of sale for the payment is with them; your contract for the licence and support is with us. Card details are entered on their hosted checkout and are never handled by getreviewx.com.
Prices are shown in US dollars and are exclusive of VAT, GST and sales tax unless stated otherwise at checkout, where the applicable tax is calculated from your billing country. We may change prices for future terms; a price change is announced by email at least 30 days before it affects a renewal of yours.
8. Google data and Google’s terms
GetReviewX retrieves content from Google’s APIs on your behalf. That content is Google’s and its reviewers’, not ours and not yours, and your use of it is governed by Google’s own terms in addition to these — including the Google API Services User Data Policy, the Google Maps Platform and Business Profile APIs terms, and Google’s review-display policies. You are responsible for reading and following them for your own account.
Two consequences you should plan around:
- Cached review content is time-limited. Google’s terms cap how long its content may be stored. GetReviewX purges cached reviews on a 25-day cycle to stay inside that cap. We cannot and will not offer a permanent local archive of your reviews, and no compliant plugin can.
- Filtering must be disclosed. When you filter or reorder a review set, the plugin renders a visible, non-dismissible line stating how the set was ordered and filtered, because Google’s policies and consumer-protection rules such as the FTC endorsement guides require it. You must not remove, hide or override that disclosure, whether by CSS, filter hook or otherwise. Doing so is a breach of these terms and may also break the law where you operate.
Google may change its APIs, its quotas or its terms at any time. If a change breaks a feature, we will adapt the plugin as quickly as we reasonably can, but we cannot guarantee that any particular Google-dependent feature will remain available.
GetReviewX is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google LLC. Google, Google Maps and Google Business Profile are trademarks of Google LLC.
9. Your responsibilities
- You confirm you are authorised to connect the Google Business Profile account you connect.
- You are the controller of the review data cached on your site, and you are responsible for your own site’s privacy notice, hosting, backups and security. See our privacy policy for who holds what.
- You keep your licence key confidential. Activations made with your key are treated as yours.
- You are responsible for how you present reviews to your visitors — the selection you publish is an advertising claim about your own business, and the law of your market applies to it.
10. Acceptable use
You must not use GetReviewX or our update service to display reviews you have no right to display, to misrepresent the origin or authorship of a review, to fabricate review content, to attack or overload our infrastructure, or to circumvent Google’s quotas or terms. The GPL grants you freedom over the code; it does not license these behaviours, and section 3’s redistribution limits apply to our hosted update service, which is not covered by the GPL.
11. Trademarks
The GPL covers the code. It does not grant rights in our names, logos or brand assets. “GetReviewX” and “TheDevGarden” remain ours. If you redistribute a modified copy, please remove our branding so that nobody mistakes your build for ours — you may of course say truthfully that it is derived from GetReviewX.
12. Warranties
Consistent with the GPL, the software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the plugin will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will work with every theme, plugin or host, or that Google will keep returning the data it returns today.
We do warrant, because it is a service and not the software: that we will make reasonable efforts to keep the update service available, and to deliver support as described in section 5.
Where you deal as a consumer, mandatory statutory guarantees in your jurisdiction apply regardless of this section.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, business, anticipated savings or data, however caused and on any theory of liability, arising out of or in connection with GetReviewX, the update service or these terms — even if we were advised such loss was possible.
Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising in any twelve month period is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the licence in that period.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
You are solely responsible for keeping working backups of your site. Restoring a site is your responsibility, not ours.
14. Termination
You may stop using GetReviewX at any time, and cancel renewal at any time. We may suspend or terminate the licence and support relationship for a material breach of these terms — most obviously reselling a key or stripping the ordering disclosure — after giving you notice and, where the breach can be fixed, a reasonable chance to fix it. On termination, update and support access end. Your GPL rights in the code you already hold survive termination, as does the GPL’s own disclaimer of warranty.
15. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms for new purchases and for renewals. The version in force for your current term is the one published on the day you bought or last renewed; we keep dated copies and will send you yours on request. Material changes are emailed to licence holders at least 30 days before a renewal they would affect.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh, and the courts of Bangladesh have exclusive jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules and courts of your country of residence. Nothing here affects your rights under the GPL, which is governed by its own text.
